This blog began as "the journey of a semi-foodie living a semi-freegan" life.
My husband was a disciplined dumpster diver. We had the great privelege of eating produce for free. Of feeding people regularly and abundantly. We were, and still are, convicted in regards to the amount of waste in an industrialized, modern nation such as the U.S.A. Dumpster diving was an answer to those convicitons.
Diving also became a great source of cooking and baking motivation. Too many carrots or potatoes, a root vegetable I'd never seen, an uncanny combination of vegetables quickly familiarized me with a few good websites and an impressive ability to create unique and often exceptional dishes.
Extending Shelf Life was how it all began.
